Since the warc indexing and zipnum creation manually download and upload files, need to add a generic api for read/write from/to:

  • local file system or file://
  • hadoop hdfs://
  • s3 s3://
  • http http:// or https:// (download only)

For S3, use boto
For Hadoop, call out to external hadoop fs

Unfortunately, mrjob.fs.FileSystem apis are lacking in this area.
