I believe on the ISO layout there should be a dead key.

What exactly is the problem you are experiencing?

Also I might need your help with testing since I don't have an ISO keyboard and cannot validate the fix

Dead keys are activated in Windows based on ctrl+alt ' or altgr+' as an example.

If you have used the internatoinal english qwerty keyboard layout then its the same idea but altgr activates the dead keys.

I see, but I don't have any idea how to implement this with the current toolset.

Okay, actually I think I know what to do. I'll send you a branch to test, to get your feedback if that's okay.
