Are there any plans to introduce release versions for the library?

We don't have plans for that. Pinning (gitsha) versions with jsonnet-bundler's lockfile has worked quite well for us.

It would be nice to at minimum tag some milestones, it would allow pulling the library from more (and more stable) github apis that just the artifacts api.
