Issue with NbClassic 1.3.2 and Notebook 6.5.7

Hi @RRosio,

Is this new version supposed to work with notebook==6.*?
I have an issue with notebook==6.5.7 that started today with the new version of nbclassic. Not sure where to log a ticket.

Hi @AndersFreund, thank you for bringing this up. Could you share more about the issue you are facing, like the error messages you are seeing, the versions of Jupyter related packages you are using (jupyter --version), browser and OS and any relevant images/notebooks etc?

To follow-up here, latest version of nbclassic included updates to the paths of various static assets, so it would explain why there are errors with notebook 6.5.7, as it pulls the static assets from nbclassic. I think the best solution might be to make a new release for nbclassic with a fix to handle the backward-compatibility for the static paths.

Thank you so much for following up and for opening an issue.

I am on Windows 11.

• On a new Python 3.11 env, I pip install notebook==6.5.7.
• when starting Jupyter, a file explorer tab opens fine in my browser. I already there I see some 404 in the console.
• When selecting a NB, a new tab opens, but the NB never populates.

This is the errors I see in the console:

If I downgrade nbclassic to 1.3.1, all is working as expected again.

Thank you for sharing the issue you're experiencing @AndersFreund. I have opened up a PR to address this issue, #375, if you could give it a try and share if you run into any other issues that would be helpful!

Also, if you're willing to share, it would be helpful to hear about your use case in using both classic Notebook 6 and NbClassic!
