Domain Truncation on Challenge?

Seeing an issue for my domain:
Certificate requested is gitlab.idm.example.com
Namecheap domain is example.com
TXT record in Namecheap comes out as _acme-challenge.gitlab (missing .idm)

I don't see a way to configure this away, and Go is certainly not my first language...

Would it be easier to have the user add the Namecheap base domain (i.e. example.com) in the namecheap-credentials secret, then have the webhook use this to trim the domain info rather than trying to guess or get accurate info from Namecheap?

I'm happy to try and contribute, just don't want to redesign your project. Thanks

Found the issue in main.go:299: util.FindZoneByFqdn is apparently unreliable for this purpose (see cert-manager/cert-manager#4134) so it should be avoided.

I recommend replacing with:
if zone, err = c.getSecret(cfg.APIDomainSecretRef, ch.ResourceNamespace) if err != nil { return "", "", err }
and add the zone to the namecheap-credentials secret
