Don't inherit labels from base image

If you build with our buildah task, all the labels of your parent image are inherited to the child. This is almost never what you want - you don't want your child image to be labelled as if it was "ubi9".

There's an option to the buildah command to prevent this that might help --unsetlabel.

Well, @rishi-jat, we don't usually use the assignment feature in github. If you're working on a patch here, I think it's enough to announce that you intend to work on it in a comment just like you did and then link to this issue from your PR once its posted.

Some more elaboration on the original issue. I think when I originally filed it, I assumed that there would be some labels that we always want to "disinherit" from the parent image. I'm pretty sure we'll want this to be governed by a param so that users can replace a default list with their own list (or empty list) of labels that they don't want to inherit.

Just to confirm before I start implementing the buildah task should add a parameter (e.g. UNSET_PARENT_LABELS) with a default list of labels to remove from the parent image, while allowing users to override the list or set it empty if they want full inheritance. Does that match what you had in mind?
