How do I debug the Home connection?

I setup the reader a while ago. It worked fine for a few months. But recently it stopped working and I am trying to understand why.

Apple Home says "not responding". I've setup an automation which is not triggering. I also cannot change the lock switch manually in Apple Home.

I checked the service and its logs and it seems to work fine, i.e. I can see the NFC reader connects. I can see the homekey authentication. However, what I don't see in the logs is the communication with Apple Home.

Thus, I believe Homekey is actually doing fine. It's the connection the Apple Home that's broken (not happening). Any ideas how to debug?

Apple Home itself seems to be ok, i.e. I can use other switches fine. They are both in the same network and I can ping the Home base Apple TV from the Pi with the NFC reader.
