The gridsearch is the core of the toolbox, but its operation is highly optimised. This is great, but our (ok, my) collecting understanding of what it's actually doing now is hazy and it makes fixing bugs and adding features hard. We should ensure that the index-manipulation and FFT optimisations are exhaustively documented.
