Sorry for the late reply! We were just working on moving topics from one MO-instance to another. I assume this does not fit your use case, as you want a duplicate of the topics. To ease implementation - would it be sufficient to implement a duplicate button which duplicates all discussion in a MO-instance in the same course? We might be able to add that to #119 |
Hi @NinaHerrmann , In regular Moodle forum there is an option to export the forums content to a document. I don't find any such feature in Moodleoverflow. Is it something that you can implement into the plugin? |
Hey @acquaalta |
As I suppose you did not have the time to check it, I checked creating a backups and restore it. This works when the users who wrote the discussions and posts are included. |
Hi @NinaHerrmann, Thanks |
@KristofGit I will close this if you do not answer |
Sorry for the late reply but just saw the responses. So the use case that we had would require an explicit export into a file and later upload/reimport from that file - both in different courses. If the forum content (posts/threads) should be included in the backups and restored with the restore feature in a different course then it seems that our Moodle team has disables this feature. |
Hi @Moodle-Overflow Team,
we are starting to integrate your solution at our university's Moodle instance. So far its working nicely for most use cases, i.e., I would like to thank you here for creating it :). However, there is one specific use case which would be important for us which seems not to be supported (yet).
Hence, we would like to ask if its maybe already support and we overlooked or if you see a possibility to support it in the (near) future. For the latter we can offer to provide the necessary changes as a pull request based on a project that we have started here.
Use Case: We would need a feature to first export a Moodle Overflow forum (posts and threads) and later on import it in a different Moodle Overflow forum at a different Moodle course. For this exporting the whole content and importing the whole content again in an unmodified form without any special handling of duplicates etc. would be completely sufficient. Think of it as a simple copy and paste of the content. While doing so the creators/users related to the posts can be removed and be, e.g., replaced by the user account that imports the content.
What is your view on this use case? Is it already supported? Can the existing solution be extended? Are you interested in extending it by yourself? Alternatively: If we provide the necessary changes as a pull request can you see a path to integrate them into the project?
Best Regards
Kristof
