Wanted change
Hi. Would you be open to including some tips on how to modify Mastodon text (locale translations) in the documentation? If so, I will create a pull request. I struggled to figure it out but now have it working on my instance.
The docs would cover two cases, server-side translations and client side translations. Server-side is easy, just need to map an override folder into the right place. Client side requires changes to the Dockerfile and re-building the image.
Not sure this is in scope, thus my question before creating pull request.
Reason for change
Tweaking the site's copy (text) is an important part of adjusting Mastodon for a given community.
Proposed code change
Update to the README.md. I propose a new section something like this:
Customzing your instance's translations (text)
Mastodon copy is split between backend code and frontend code. Backend translations can be updated pretty easily.
### Backend translations
Instructions on mounting a volume into the container's /app/www/config/locales/overrides path and sending puma -USR2 signal.
Frontend translations
Instructions on modifying Dockerfile.
