ubuntu build dependency mismatch

OS and Environment

• Operating System: Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
• Node Version: 18.19.1
• NPM Version: 9.2.0

Steps to Reproduce

1. Navigate to the project’s frontend directory:

   cd frontend
   

2. Install dependencies

   npm install
   

3. error log

   Log files:
   /home/companion/.npm/_logs/2024-10-28T04_54_13_391Z-debug-0.log
   
   While resolving: dtale@3.15.1
   Found: react@18.3.1
   node_modules/react
   react@"18.3.1" from the root project
   
   Could not resolve dependency:
   peer react@"^16.8 || 17" from @blueprintjs/datetime@5.3.9
   node_modules/@blueprintjs/datetime
   @blueprintjs/datetime@"5.3.9" from the root project
   
   Fix the upstream dependency conflict, or retry
   this command with --force or --legacy-peer-deps
   to accept an incorrect (and potentially broken) dependency resolution.
   
   
   

Kindly guide me out of the error.

Work around

npm install --force
npm audit fix --force

wondering if it will break something

If you're building the front-end code then whatever works for your setup is fine. If this was a change that we wanted to add to the package then maybe we would have to be a little more judicious. For reference, i'm building using the following:

npm -> 8.18.3
node -> v16.19.0
yarn ->  1.5.1

I'd also try using yarn install instead of npm install
