Great repository, but needs some minor changes to make it compatible with some peculiarities of ARA and other Austrian verification files.

Specifically:

• units.py needs extension to include different precipitation units like 'm' and 'Mg/m^2', as well as more exotic definitions of temperature like '°C'
• proj4 string for ARA domain could be added, though it might not be critical

Would be great to receive some suggestions from the core developers to make the repo more generic. Please let me know how you'd proceed, and I'd be happy to contribute on the lines mentioned above and beyond.
