Summary of the bug

After opening a popover menu submenu, closing the popover menu by clicking the popover menu anchor button causes the submenu to remain open. It can be closed when pressing the escape key or by clicking away.

🪜 How to reproduce

  1. Go to a popover menu example that contains a submenu (example on the popover menu code page on the ICDS website) and open the submenu
  2. Attempt to close the menu by clicking the anchor button
  3. See that the submenu remains on the screen

🧐 Expected behaviour

The menu should no longer be displayed when the anchor button is clicked.
