Sometimes after the device has been idle for a long time the audio stream will be glitchy and choppy. I've resorted to power cycling the device and the issues disappears. I haven't bothered to attach a monitor but I think a hacky workaround might be to reset the I2S peripheral and flush the queue when the very first client connects.
