I'm using Mopidy-Iris, where, if I press "Play" on an album, the playback order is different than displayed, and more importantly, wrong. Instead of following the track number, Mopidy-Local appears to sort by artist first. This is true for both albums with multiple different artists, and for albums where some tracks list multiple artists. This also occurs if I use mpc add local:album:md5:01b9855719d29b70dc3471a9e0fa50e0 to queue the tracks instead of Iris.
For example, in "Morning Sci-Fi" by Hybrid, tracks "True to Form" (second in album) and Blackout (twelfth) will both play at the end, after what normally would be the last track in the album. Both feature artists other than Hybrid.
And what does mpc playlist show? Presumably it shows the tracks in the order Mopidy plays them. It's up to clients how they decide to display (order) things. Does Iris have some kind of now-playing tracklist view? I would expect that to have the same order as mpc playlist does, re-ordering the now-playing tracklist view would be nonsensical.
It sounds like Iris displays the library tracks to the user one way, but adds them to Mopidy's tracklist another way, and so they are not in sync. Mopidy-Local could be changed to order tracks differently, it would arguably make more sense, but it doesn't sound like that's actually the underlying issue here.
The issue is not the display order in Iris, but the playback order in Local. It makes no sense for an album URL to order tracks differently than by the disc and track number if they're present.
