Ever since the release of Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee, the sprites seen in Pokémon games have been 68×56 instead of the old 40×30 from Sun/Moon. The extra space was used to represent larger Pokémon with more detailed and larger sprites. Since not all Pokémon were present in both LPLE and SwSh, not all sprites were updated to the new format, meaning some Pokémon sprites look distinctly smaller than the rest. With each DLC, more Pokémon from previous generations are added into the game, meaning they get new, correct looking sprites too.
