Why wont double tap to wake work?

I'm sorry if this is a asked question or something that should already be known but I'm just genuinely confused. Ive noticed that on this rom, you can enable double tap to sleep easily without any problem but when I go into the phh treble settings and enable double tap to wake, it wont work, then i go into the misc features and tap on double tap to wake, it says its unlikely to work for me. It used to work when running stock rom (galaxy a15) so im confused why this rom wont allow it. no magisk modules work either. If this is a trebeldroid issue please tell me where I should make a issue.

DT2W functionality can vary from device-to-device. Stock may support it, but the GSI may or may not.

@SMOLKEYS thanks for the simple and clear explanation, so even if i change the kernel or modify it using modules it still wont work?

Nope this is right I am running security patch December 1. Unless that's not the thing it's asking for.

Do you know anyway to fix this? Or could you please take this in account when developing the January build? Thanks.
