Navit won't download maps on android

On navit android app I try to download maps but it's stuck it won't download maps is this a known issue with the navit android app.

Unfortunately this is an known issue, that I am working on for already too long. I am in the process of reimplementing the downloading of maps using curl.

This is because the website http://maps.navit-project.org/ (used by navit's internal map downloader in the Android version) is down.

A temporary workaround is to build the binfile map file manually, from a downloaded protobuf map file using the instructions here

@lains: We already have a replacement of the old map servers here at github (https://github.com/navit-gps/gh-actions-mapserver/releases). The root issue is that I did not manage to integrate it in navit.

Can't the app just work like this 1. I click download on the map I want 2. Send a request to your gh actions servers which has the pre compiled bin files for the maps that I want to do download 3. When download is done load the map from the pre compiled bin file if it fails show error on screen saying navit cant load map name.bin and have a button to redownload it. This is exactly what I am working on in my branch except the redownload (#1134). Unfortunately, time is always tricky to find.
