Here are a few ideas that have been previously discussed or off the top of my head. Please add to the list if you think of more.

  • artifacts outside the head
  • motion artifacts?
  • small fov
  • still contains nose and/or front of face
  • deface mask applied at wrong orientation
  • skull-stripped
  • low-res
  • part of nose and/or face wrapped around to other side
  • T2w and other non-T1w anatomicals
  • mri_deface and other non-pydeface defacing software
