How to setup snacks explorer and picker

I'm trying to move from neotree to snacks explorer, but the width of the explorere side bar is way too big, I've tried to set it to a lower value in nix vim, but the changes aren't taking effect, can anyone help me? Here's my current config:

I've already tried moving the width option to layout.layout.width but that didn't work as well, looking at the plugin documentation this should work. As a side note, adding this plugin I now get a message everytime I open up neovim with the following message

vim.lsp.get_active_clients() is deprecated
