Background Service not working?

I wanted to try the Background Service, but enabling it doesn't seem to do anything.

I noticed this too. On my lockscreen it says the background service is running, but when I pull down the Android drop-down, it doesn't show that it is running.

It should be running. But we are going to be rebuilding the Background Service from the ground up.
