Neuropixels data is not perfectly aligned across channels because multiple channels share a single ADC and a single ADC cannot sample multiple channel simultaneously. Therefore, it is common-practice when pre-processing NP data to introduce phase-shifts to the data. However, there are still questions about why this needs to be done in the first place per SpikeInterface/spikeinterface#3732 (comment).
We should also consider doing this for Intan data depending on the conclusion from the previously-linked discussion.
