We currently have the style property with options of two up, three up, four up, five up to create columns inside of a section.

We also have the layout property with options of 1 | 2, 2 | 1, 1 | 3, 3 | 1 to create uneven columns (1/3 type layouts). This ONLY works when coupled with the style property using the two up option. I think this a little confusing and prone to mistakes for authors.

I think having 1 | 2, 2 | 1, 1 | 3, 3 | 1 options for the styles property makes more sense and remove the layout property.
Using the | notes the amount of columns.

E.g. 1 | 2 is pretty easy to read as two columns, with the second column twice as big as the first. This simplifies what authors need to add to achieve those uneven columns.

Does it make more sense to get rid of two up, three up, four up, five up options in favor of writing those options with |?

E.g. 1 | 1 | 1 would equate to 3 columns, all even widths.

Thoughts? Concerns? Ideas?

My thought would be to leave the style: two up, etc in place for current content and make an update to the layout props that can support using just the pipes.. layout: 1| 1 etc. and this could work independently. Essentially invoke the ups w/ out having to declare both style and layout.
It feels like we should add/update documentation using the layout for these things and remove the ups from our documentation but keep the styles for regression. LMK any other thoughts, Just trying to clarify the difference between style and layout and only have one suggested way of handling each.
