Should we change 'Use Offer' button to open OST from
https://milo.adobe.com/tools/ost
instead of
https://main--milo--adobecom.hlx.page/tools/ost?

Background for this discussion is that we are facing CORS issues on requesting Country Service API. They don't accept 'https://main--milo--adobecom.hlx.page' Origin as an adobe one. (seems like only '*adobe.com' is accepted)

isn't it all about the URL OST generates for a price/checkout?
AFAIK Word online requires a full URL in order to render it as a a element.
However, when clicked in Word, side kick should probably alter the default url and open it with the best URL for the consumer.

Let's assume we replace relative OST URL with absolute here: https://github.com/adobecom/milo/blob/main/tools/sidekick/config.json#L85

This can ensure that by default the tool is:

• served from a controllable env
• served consistently - the latest official version

In case a developer needs to use an alternate version of the tool:

• redirector extension still can help to make redirection rule for browser
• config.json can be modified in a fork and sidekick can be configured to use the fork instead of milo/main

Opening tool by link click in Word online via browser extension is not dependent on URL type.
Here's sample code how to install navigation interceptor in a Chrome extension:

Along with host suffix, other filters (hostContains, hostPrefix, pathContains, pathPrefix etc.) are supported by the API: https://developer.chrome.com/docs/extensions/reference/events/#type-UrlFilter

@yesil per this KB answer: If you have files in the cloud, you can only use absolute hyperlinks

yes by full urls, I meant absolute URLs :)

@vladen the problem is when you click on existing prices with absolute URLs that are generated by OST/Milo integration.
I think regardless of the host part in the absolute URL, when one click on a price or CTA, it should open OST with a stable URL which doesn't hit IMS or Cors issues.

@yesil let's take this stable URL as an example: https://milo.adobe.com/tools/ost?some=parameters&for=ost

• World Online:
  • opens link in a new tab, by default.
• Browser extension:
  • notifies navigation attempt to "https://milo.adobe.com/tools/ost",
  • immediately closes target tab,
  • in the tab that triggered navigation, opens sidekick popup passing query string parameters,
  • stable OST URL is set in sidekick config and normally used.

A visual glitch may happen while browser switches from new tab back to the original one but per my exp this does not irritate a lot.
