Outputting a single value (T/F) from a window reading a published subject

I'm trying to record from a sensor within a two second window, and at the end of that 2 second window emit a single True or False value for the next step. I am open to any way of doing this - but currently I am using a window with a 2 second timer. Currently however, the window doesn't appear to be outputting anything after 2 seconds. I can touch the sensor (or not) and the ReplaySubject outputs zeros or ones depending, but there's no graphical or boolean output from the Window as far as I can tell.

The section of code I am lost in is called "Response"

I am also quite puzzled with getting the trial structure to start. The main loop should begin immediately (and it does if the input is a digital input), but I'm having difficulty getting it to start with published subject unless I touch the sensor once before each trial loop.

I would suggest you to use Last node, which will fire when the upstream node finishes its execution

I am running a task where a reward is to be administered if an action is performed within two seconds of a cue. In this case, if a capacitive sensor is touched at any point within that window. I am using an adapted version of the State Machine example, but the problem with that example is that on successful trials if the sensor it touched it enters the next step immediately and progresses to the Success condition. I want the reward to be delivered at exactly 2 seconds every time, whether the sensor is touched at 0.5 seconds after cue or 1.5 seconds, etc. It's enforcing this window condition that I am getting stuck on.

I'm familiar with the Last node, but i'm not entirely sure what you're referring to with regards to implementation. If you attach an example Workflow or a screenshot I can test it. A lot of times where I get hung up is (correct my terminology...) what exactly should go inside sub-workflows like Window and SelectMany. In this case, I know that my ReplaySubject is outputting values while inside the Response node, and the timer ticks after 2 seconds, but nothing is coming out of the Window - at least nothing I can see via the graph.

I see. Maybe you need to seperate the state machine workflow. One for determining when the window opens and the other one for mouse's action and reward delivery. In the mouse action, maybe a DistinctUntilChange for the initiation of the action. And then maybe SkipWhile to skip the events outside that 2-sec window (this information would come from the window workflow. At the SkipWhile, set that condition in the Description property, for example, bool(it=0)). Sorry, I have not coded this kind of function before so this is all speculation.

Hi @KL-Turner I distilled what I think you are trying to achieve, into a toy workflow as I do not have access to the hardware needed to run your workflow.

Basically in this workflow, I use WindowTime to group the elements into separate observable sequences, and then use a SelectMany to evaluate each sequence and issue a final value for each window. You can use the keys A and S to emulate "touch" responses (unfortunately I did not find a good way to reset the value so you are just going to have to toggle it for each 2 second window manually).

Within the SelectMany, I use a Condition to filter out only "touch" (bool True in this workflow), and then use IsEmpty and BitwiseNot to register the final value.

1. If a touch (bool True) is registered, then IsEmpty is False, and BitwiseNot changes it to True, so the final value remains the same.
2. If no touch is registered, then IsEmpty evaluates to True, and BitwiseNot changes it to False.
