Notes for DCM:

Overview

• This meeting primarily focused on reviewing some PRs, minor issues and proposals. We also had a demo from @aacuevas showcasing progress on his prototype for a nested property mapper.

Proposals

• Consider renaming menu options for saving workflow extensions for clarity #2356
  • We adopted this proposal to resolve ambiguity when saving workflow extensions.
• Ensure CLI paths are validated and resolved early #2359
  • We adopted this PR to resolve ambiguity in relative path resolution when passing commands to the CLI.

Documentation

• Expand and reformat "Commands and Shortcuts" section in "Workflow Editor" article docs#120
  • Update default styling of keyboard shortcuts docs#146
    • @glopesdev discovered that docfx supports the html tag for keyboard input (<kbd>) and changed the default styling so that it was less high contrast.
    • Moving forward, for documentation, we encourage people to use this when listing any key presses or keyboard shortcuts.
  • Expand and reformat "Commands and Shortcuts" section in "Workflow Editor" article docs#120
    • The PR was updated to use the new html tag and style for keyboard input.
    • We agreed to shorten the mouse controls to reduce clutter by removing some obvious single action controls.
    • We also agreed to add all the missing shortcuts like the copy/export image as it turned out to be quite important and heavily used especially when sharing images for GitHub discussions.
    • We also discussed highlighting instances where the available interactions in multiple panels are very similar or context dependent (especially with the right-click for the context menu).
  • Add IplImage constraints for Bonsai.Vision operators docs#135
    • We agreed that this was needed, but had outstanding questions on how to resolve it, besides listing the constraints directly in the editor description for the operator.
    • One issue is that the constraints could be very specific.
    • One idea was to capture the failed assertions error, and return something more generic but helpful, but it would be a pain to implement.
    • Another idea was to link to the documentation for the underlying OpenCV function (with the version specified by Bonsai).

Nested Property Mapper

• @aacuevas explained how the prototype for the nested property mapper works.
• We discussed implementation details like using the single member selector for the editor interface and how to structure the PR.
• We also discussed potential edge cases.
