Ensure your @emp.cu.edu.eg address is verified in your account settings and that you are not using a VPN when submitting the photo. If the automated system still fails, post a specific request on the GitHub Education Community to have a staff member manually whitelist your university's subdomain. |

This is a fairly common issue with GitHub Education. GitHub doesn’t just check if your university exists it also checks whether your email domain is recognized in their academic domain database. In your case, @emp.cu.edu.eg is likely not listed as an official academic domain, even though Cairo University is recognized. Here’s what you can do: Try using a more common domain from your university (if available), like @cu.edu.eg instead of @emp.cu.edu.eg. If none of that works, then unfortunately there’s not much you can do immediately, since GitHub has removed direct support for education requests. In that case, you may need to wait until GitHub updates their domain list or your university standardizes the domain they provide. So yes you can still join, but only if you pass verification through documents instead of relying on the email domain. |

How to Join GitHub Student Developer Pack When Your Academic Email Domain Isn’t RecognizedI faced a similar situation where my school email wasn’t recognized by GitHub Education. Here’s what works: ✅ Steps to Fix It
✅ Key TipEven if your email domain isn’t recognized, you can still join GitHub Education through document verification. Using clear photos of your student ID or enrollment proof usually works when email-based auto-verification fails. |

Hi! This usually happens when GitHub does not recognize that email subdomain in its academic database. Hope this helps. |
