== LM or List Moderator ==
Copy the sels-x.x folder to an appropriate location.
Make sure you meet all the prerequisites (http://sels.ncsa.uiuc.edu/install.html#List2)
1. Start using the code. Look at (http://sels.ncsa.uiuc.edu/usage.html)
2. You can edit SELSLMConfig.py to change the default values for the following variables:
keyexp: An integer value for key expiration time in years. Default = 3, (Note: Maximum value at List server is set to 5 years)
keysize: An integer value for key length. Can be either 1024 or 2048. Default = 1024
SubPass: A password string used during user subscription (both batch and individual).
If you choose to leave it blank then you will be prompted for the value during script execution
when subscribing a single user. For batch subscription random password will be generated for each
user and stored in a file at sels-X.X/LM/lists/<listname>/SELS-<listname>.txt
Distribute this password to the user by some secure means.
Enter the following values too *OR* add them during script execution.
SMTPServer : The SMTP server used by your List Server, e.g. mail.isp.com
SMTPPort : 25, (Currently SELS only supports unauthenticated SMTP)
LS_EMAIL : Email address of your list server administrator.
== LS or List Server ==
Copy the sels-x.x folder to an appropriate location
Make sure you meet all the prerequisites (http://sels.ncsa.uiuc.edu/install.html#List1)
Steps to install LS are:
Note: If you are doing a reinstall of SELS LS code, remember to make a backup of your SELSLSConfig.py
1. You need to run configure with three arguments: selspath , mailman-path and mailman-logpath
selspath is defined by where ever you want to install SELS. Usually SELS is installed in /usr/local.
Therefore selspath = /usr/local/selsx.x/LS
mailman-path is the location where mailman "lists" folder is installed. Mailman is usually installed in /usr/local.
To find where mailman is installed run "locate mailmanctl"
This will return a path like "/usr/local/mailman/bin" If /usr/local/mailman/lists exists then
mailman-path=/usr/local/mailman. Sometimes(example in Fedora core linux, default mailman installation) mailman "lists"
folder is installed in a different location than mailman core code. Usually mailman core is installed in /usr/lib/mailman
whereas "lists" folder is installed at /var/lib/mailman. In this case mailman-path=/var/lib/mailman
Mailman stores logs in /var/log/mailman so mailman-logpath=/var/log/mailman
./configure --prefix=selspath --with-mailman=mailman-path --with-mailmanlogs=mailman-logpath
make
make install (as root)
2. Become root and copy sels-x.x to /usr/local
3. Copy ~LS/bin/Mailman_Handlers/*.py to ~mailman/Mailman/Handlers/ and apply the patch as described in ~LS/bin/Mailman_Handlers/MailmanREADME.
4. Add "SELS" handler to the global pipeline at ~mailman/Mailman/Defaults.py. To do so put the following line
in mm_cfg.py. This will find 'Moderate' in the list and insert 'SELS' at that point.
GLOBAL_PIPELINE.insert(GLOBAL_PIPELINE.index('Moderate'), 'SELS')
5. Restart mailman using ~/mailman/bin/mailmanctl restart.
6. Edit SELSLSConfig.py and change default values of Global variables. Leave LK_KEY_ID as none etc. (Note: Maximum value for keyexp = 5 years)
7. On getting email request to "create new list" from LM , create list using
python SELScreate.py -l <listname>
Then send emails to LM using:
python sendemailtoLM.py
:choose 1, 2 and then 3
8. All manual steps are complete.
9. For debugging view SELS log as "tail -f /var/log/mailman/SELS.log"
10. For debugging view Mailman error log as "tail -f /var/log/mailman/error"
