Hi,

PTHR24390 contains FEZF1 and many other FEZF2 genes; however human FEZF2 (Q8TBJ5) is missing; it is present in PTHR16515.

An ancestor of FEZF1 in PTHR24390is a HGT, which is suspicious since there are no bacterial sequences in that clade.

All FEZF1/FEZF2 should belong to the same family.

The HGT event involving yeast AZF1 is pretty suspicious:

I have seen a few cases like this, I dont know how widespread that is.

This is a zinc finger TF family. These often have the problem that the family boundaries are not well defined, so some members are missing while others should be in a different family, and that appears to be the problem here. We need to have an effort on revising the membership of the PANTHER families for C2H2 zinc fingers.
