[feat] Ability to open directories rather than just unfold from the tree #2481

Describe the problem
I'd like to be able to double-click a directory, and have it open in the sidebar, replacing the tree view. Then be able to use ◀︎ or a keyboard shortcut to navigate back.

Opening directories on their own, as described above.
