I hadn't heard of that micromod stuff, that's exactly what I had in mind They even sell spare m.2 connectors https://www.sparkfun.com/products/16549 at 1.5$ per connector, is there a cheaper interconnect to put on the motherboard, I think that only leaves dupon female headers. Maybe pcie 1x connectors. I still could not find, what the ESP32-CX-Riser is supposed to plug into ? You mentionned 2.54mm pin spacing Is it for a shrouded dupon connector ? like these maybe ? If the board is close to 0.061" that might work https://www.mouser.ca/ProductDetail/TE-Connectivity/5-102202-5?qs=a%2FxQ8LRP7dBXIIOuNY2N2w%3D%3D |

Yeah the micromod stuff is sweet, but very different to my use case. I don't want any connectors as they're just too big and bulky. If you watch that video with part three, in the first few minutes I explain it all. 2.54mm spacing is just for compatibility with header pins if desired, however, standard mount in my use case is PCB slot cut. Eg similar to https://forum.kicad.info/t/footprint-for-daughterboard-mounted-vertically-in-slot-best-method/26396 but as shown in the video, more like the Athom plug. |
