<h3><strong>What is PyData Chicago?</strong></h3>
<h3>
PyData Chicago is a group for users and developers of
data analysis tools to share ideas and learn from each
other. We gather to discuss how best to apply Python tools,
as well as those using R and Julia, to meet the evolving
challenges in data management, processing, analytics, and
visualization. PyData groups, events, and conferences aim
to provide a venue for users across all the various domains
of data analysis to share their experiences and their techniques.
We're here to learn together, grow together, and
build together.
</h3>
<h3><strong>How can I hear about PyData Chicago events?</strong></h3>
<h3>
Easy! <a href="http://meetup.com/PyDataChi">Join our Meetup</a>
and get notified about upcoming events or
<a href="https://twitter.com/PyDataChi">follow us on Twitter at @PyDataChi</a>.
</h3>
<h3><strong>What kinds of events does PyData Chicago host?</strong></h3>
<h3>
PyData Chicago presents a monthly speaker series, called Elocutionist
Evenings, where community members present 45-minute talks on a PyData-related
topic. If you are a community member interested in giving a talk, please fill
out <a href="http://goo.gl/forms/UigWG8oE0h">this form</a>. PyData Chicago also
presents a monthly project night, called NumFOCUS Nights, where community
members are welcome to contribute to open source data tools.
</h3>
<h3><strong>How can my organization support PyData Chicago?</strong></h3>
<h3>
If you're organization uses pandas, matplotlib, Jupyter Notebooks,
Julia, R, or any other NumFOCUS projects as part of your workflow
we would love it if you could support the ongoing development and
community around these tools. Your organization can choose to either
sponsor an event (food and/or venue) or send a speaker for our monthly
speaker series. If you are interested, please
<a href='mailto:sa%66ia@%73afia%2Eroc%6Bs'>contact organizer Safia Abdalla</a>
in order to find out how you can support PyData Chicago.
</h3>
<h3><strong>Why do we need a PyData in Chicago?</strong></h3>
<h3>
Chicago is full of talented developers who are building open source
data tools, talented data scientists who are using open source data
tools, and people who are a mix of both. PyData Chicago not only aims
to develop the open source community in Chicago, we are working to
develop better programmers and better data scientists in the city
through shared growth and development.
</h3>
<h3><strong>Do you have a Code of Conduct?</strong></h3>
<h3>
Yes, of course! At PyData Chicago, we value the safety and comfort of
each of our members. We follow the <a href="http://www.numfocus.org/code-of-conduct.html">
NumFOCUS Code of Conduct
</a>.
</h3>
<h3><strong>Who are the organizers?</strong></h3>
<h3>
<p>
<a href="http://safia.rocks">Safia</a> is an energetic software engineer
with an interest in data science for social good, intelligent interfaces,
and great coffee. She has been programming since she was 13 and is excited
about the world changing potential of computers (and data!). She can be
found as @captainsafia on <a href="https://twitter.com/captainsafia">Twitter</a>
and <a href="https://github.com/captainsafia">GitHub</a>.
</p>
<p>
<a href="https://twitter.com/willengler">Will</a> is a data engineer at
the <a href="http://www.urbanccd.org/#urbanccd">Urban Center for Computation and Data</a>.
He builds tools to make data about cities more accessible so that
policy wonks can do better analysis,
civic hackers can build better applications,
and citizens can be better informed.
You can find him on <a href="https://twitter.com/willengler">Twitter</a>
