There is vscode as a code-server server and as an application in x11. I think the code-server has a much better experience … while those using it via x11 don't know about it.
So, if the code-server is available, I propose to add a note to the launch icons, or a popup confirmation, to tell users that code server exists.
I'm not sure if there is a reason to keep the x11 app, though.
Bonus: similarly, there is that R IDE, same situation
