We have a large number of seemingly impossible to solve issues using nextjs:

it's hard to upgrade
base_paths are impossible to do dynamically, requiring a rebuild. This is a HUGE problem.
building is slow and uses a lot of memory, making development painful, especially without a lot of RAM

Consider switching to Remix at some point in the future, when we have the luxury to do so, and many other more important things have settled down.
