Latest Springs tool, using G2.6.1 [1225] High Sierra, get an initial slowdown message from G2. Give the plugin a try anyway.

  1. Select two nodes per the instructions, set it for Horizontal constraint.
  2. All other third-party plugins disabled.
  3. Flash of a colored line, then entire outline implodes to 0/0 size, with all nodes stacked atop each other at x=0, y=0. Cmd-Z will not undo.
  4. Repeated the test using Diagonal constraint after restarting Glyphs. Same result. Tried it on several different fonts, same result.
  5. Downloaded G2.6.1 [1218], G2 version just prior to the update to Springs. Removed all other plugins and repeated test. Same result.

Glyphs' Macro Panel has this, in black:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/Users/georgethomas2/Library/Application Support/Glyphs/Plugins/Springs.glyphsTool/Contents/Resources/plugin.py", line 195, in inspectorViewControllers
layer = self.editViewController().graphicView().activeLayer()
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'graphicView'

Six months later, and the conclusion I have reached is: this plugin is never going to be fixed.
