IDL generation is not stable.

I have a program which has two error.rs files, one in a subdirectory.

IDL generation seems to get confused. Sometimes, when it runs, it will pick up the wrong file and the corresponding errors in the generated IDL are incorrect. If I delete the generated IDL file and re-build then usually picks it up correctly.

Feb 5 2026, this is still an issue on anchor-0.32.1. What I have to do as a workaround is remove all the errors on the external IDL and do anchor build (Also happens for anchor build -v).

Having multiple error definitions is not supported. However, if you have them for testing purposes, add:

#[cfg(not(feature = "idl-build"))]

on top of them so that the IDL generation doesn't care about them. This will be a hard error after #4300.
