I like to call myself an "equal opportunity" developer. Why not free/open/FOSS/FLOSS ? I think those terms make a lot of sense to fellow geeks, but not so much to a majority of others. In the most general sense, when we give people software, we give them tools. Specifically, we give them an opportunity to do something for learning, fun or profit. This allows leveraging the low cost of replication of software and hardware designs, for the betterment of everyone. In a broad sense, software we build serves largely as tools that aid economic freedom, rather than "free speech" or "freedom".

Our world is diverse. Sitting in some corner of the world, it is hard to assess the economic value of the tools we provide. Thus, I prefer to let users evaluate the value of my work, and compensate me accordingly. This is an obligation I place on users of my works. For this reason, I specifically term some of my software "equal opportunity" rather than "free". It's equal opportunity for users, as well as developers. I hope not to create a new "license"... For the projects I expect no compensation, I continue using "FOSS".

I spend my time developing "equal opportunity" tools, as I believe that this way I can add more value not just for myself, but also to the world. Should you choose to sponsor my work, I'd appreciate a message about the "why".

I am a seasoned software developer, who has been in the industry since 2020. I am well versed in leading hardware and software development. I have experience and expertise in embedded systems, high performance computing, GPUs, and a broad set of general skills.

In terms of visible professional accomplishments, some of my work has won awards in Supercomputing conference (SC '07). I rate my KitePhone DIY Smartphone project (see hackaday project for details) higher, though.

I have a Computer Science Engineering (bachelors) degree. I studied at UBDT College of Engineering. Apart from that, I also have a Graduate Certificate in Public Policy (Technology and Policy specialization) from The Takshashila Institution.

I was fortunate to have an early induction into computers, but it's fair to say that overall I've had a "mixed privilege" in terms of upbringing. I have been a significant recipient of charity, generosity and goodwill in my formative years. First hand experiences have taught me that the road to an "equal opportunity" world passes through the gates of better education. This motivates me to work for areas that have a broad impact, specifically education.

Along with hacking, I enjoy all types of DIY. I like long walks and indulge in bicycle tours when possible. I am not yet done touring my beautiful country and the wide world. Surely, some day !
