If you want I may try to do it.
There is no reason to not use TS for better IDE experience and type safety.
ESbuild is an extra it should cut build time drastically, probably not an issue yet.

I'd say this is not very high prio, but of course I'd welcome a better fe tooling. One very important thing to keep in mind though is that we're embedding react compononets inside Django templates here, so this can't break. I figured out how to set this up for Django and Webpack, dunno if there is a easy way to do it with esbuild...

I will figure it out, it's shouldn't be very hard to do, it's just a bundler.
Typescript is way more important to keep you from the typing bugs etc.

I will start working at this tomorrow around 4pm GMP+1.
Do you have any slack/discord for instant communication?
It may be helpful with initial setup.
