Dark variant not working

Hey! Im using tailwind 4.0.0 with vite, vue, and im in chrome.

The darkmode variant doesnt seem to be working in its simplest form?

I followed these docs:

Which implies there is no additional setup required?

Works after I changed my theme in my mac os settings... But I would expect it would look at the user agent settings first?
