Create a diagnostic mode for the P2pool node that is done via the cli option of -diag
This mode should on calling test the following and print the results to a json file:

Node id + addresses
DNS seeds
Try to Connect to each DNS seed and display the results
Try to download peers from the DNS seeds and display the amount received
Try to connect to 5 of those peers and also download peers from them 
Try to register against a relay (external address) and display results
