After/during implementing it would be nice to have these #29678 options too.

Well, even if significant efforts will be made and a proxy for calls will be implemented in Telegram Desktop, it will still not allow calling people who use Telegram on Android or iPhone.
In simplest terms, it would be a proxy only between Desktop clients, which does not make much sense.

Are you saying that "Use proxy for calls" doesn't work on mobile phones either?
[UPD] YES "Use proxy for calls" on android not working too (v. 12.6.4).

But any way this will allow calling:

• Any clients in non restricted networks.
• Any clients that uses vpn.
• Any Desktop clients with proxy as you mentioned.

Or am I wrong?

I've checked recently. SOCKS5 proxy does not work for calls.

Server:
docker image gost with forwarded for example 5555/tcp and 5555/udp
Clients:
Android 9 (latest official telegram)
IOS 18 (latest official telegram)

When calling, telegram just hangs up when exchanging keys. Tried disabling p2p calls, force-tcp mode for calls etc.
And ofcourse socks5 proxy with "use proxy for calls" toggle enabled on both devices.

As I see it, now "use for calls" feature doesn't work for both mobile and desktop clients

It makes my eyebrows raise to read "Telegram is all about privacy, freedom and etc" and watch this feature stalled. Instead we have live stories, auctions and purchase offers for gifts, android redesign and GIF editing but not core availability feature fixed.

This is becoming more and more relevant, especially in light of recent problems with VPNs on mobile devices (in some countries) and the fact that "Use proxy for calls" doesn't work there either...
