How do I modify a dropdown menu to open on hover?

I tried looking through the relevant sections, but I can't seem to find a way to make the dropdowns activate on hover. Is there a way to do this? I am aware that the documentation says that the dropdowns were make to be toggleable and not hoverable by design. I'm just hoping there's an option to override this.
