Hi there

New to (wx)Maxima, but liking it a lot!

I somehow can't manage to move the cursor within an input line using the arrow keys on the keyboard: I always have to point and click using the mouse...

Is it something weird about my setup that's causing that or are other people experiencing this as well?

Cheers,
Damian

If you are using MS Windows: Could you try the installer found at https://wolfgang.dautermann.at/maxima/nightlybuild/.

Hello,

I had the exact same issue when using wxMaxima 5.47.0-win64. I could move the cursor within an input line using a keyboard if it was one of the first lines in the file. For any other line, it appeared to be stuck in place, but if I pressed the arrow key a few times and typed anything, the position at which I was typing changed. I also received "Warning: Can set maxima's working directory but cannot change it during the maxima session :" at least once in each file, and if I started an animation I had to press any button on my mouse or type anything in other line to actually render the frames (It was stuck waiting for the action, without skipping frames, so it was not rendering in the background). I have tried reinstalling wxMaxima and removing all directories associated with it to no avail. The build of the version you have provided has fixed all those issues.

With regards,
Darek

Hi @gunterkoenigsmann

Thanks for your immediate reply and apologies for my long delay.

I'll try this in the coming days.

Cheers,

Hi,
I encountered the same problem when I downloaded Maxima from Sourceforge. Part of the problem seems to be outdated wxMaxima in the Maxima package (dated 06/23). With the present development version the arrow keys work as they should (I guess I could have downloaded newer wxMaxima separately?).

I updated the Readme.md for the Maxima Windows installer now (https://sourceforge.net/projects/maxima/files/Maxima-Windows/5.47.0-Windows/), and added a remark, that one can use newer versions of wxMaxima, instead of the old version, which was included in the Maxima 5.47.0 release.
