Correct regex pattern for file:/// URLs

I would like to have a Yomitan settings group activated when a local file is opened and is found in a certain directory.

For example, let's say I want the group to be active when a txt or html file found in a Transcripts directory is opened. The full URLs of such files look like this:

file:///tmp/Transcripts/game-1/log.txt
file:///tmp/Transcripts/game-2/lines.html

What would be the correct regular expression pattern to match both of these?

So far, I've tried adding a profile group with ^file:\/\/*Transcripts*\.html and another with ^file:\/\/*Transcripts*\.txt, but none of them seem to work.

I've also tried the following patterns for good measure:

• ^file:\/\/*\.txt: doesn't work
• ^file:\/\/*\.html: doesn't work
• \.txt: works
• \.html: works

I'd also like to note that I'm using Yomitan with Firefox (on Linux), and scanning works fine with all local files I've tried so far. It is group activation with pattern matching that I have trouble with.

Coming back to this issue, I think I might have overcomplicated things. I find that if I omit colons and slashes from the pattern, it works. For example:

^file
^file.*\.html
^file.*\.txt

[username-011]

Maybe read about how Regex work first...

Correct (1) regex is not: ^file:\/\/*Transcripts*\.html, it's ^file:\/\/.*Transcripts.*\.html
(2) is ^file:\/\/.*Transcripts.*\.txt
"Match any character any amount of times" needs to be .*

Your mentioned "working" patterns work exactly because you added the dot to make the .*, omitting colons and slashes is most likely irrelevant.
