Similar to how other plugins have, create a "Getting started" banner atop the plugin settings for users that are new to the plugin. This should be easy to dismiss and never resurface. Not sure exactly what to include in such a banner, but possibly could link off to key helpful documentation on the plugin (especially things like walkthroughs of how to use the plugin under various kinds of workflows).
