Online, web, browser version of Zed editor

Hi, interested to know is there online, "web", "browser" (running in the browser) version of Zed editor in plan? like for VS Code there is a https://vscode.dev version https://code.visualstudio.com/blogs/2021/10/20/vscode-dev . is it at all possible to do with Rust?

The funny thing about this is that I feel sure I remember this being on their roadmap a while ago, that "Web" was a planned platform. But now when I search their website I can't find any mention of it at all. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, but if I am remembering correctly this would have been a year, maybe a little more, ago.

Since GitHub is poorly designed to reply with messages that harass everyone who follows issues, and there's no current plan to implement it, and each message is pointlessly stressing out team developers.

If they ever do this, and I'm not sure it's even possible, then it is a long long way until it can be done.

It is much simpler with VSCode as VSCode really is just a website in a app. While Zed is native.

While it may not be as straightforward as a JavaScript app, you'd be surprised by what's possible with WebAssembly.

Look for instance at egui, a Rust based GUI framework that runs great in a browser. You lose the DOM, but performance-wise, it's beast.

So given that Zed is also Rust based and could likely utilize WebAssembly just as well, I think it's pretty realistic for it to run on Web. It's just necessary to provide all the bindings, potentially simulate the filesystem and other stuff like StackBlitz does for instance.
