Just a quick feedback because I like Zen Browser but I'm worried about the direction this project is going in.
Recently, a few things have been changed to diverge from how all the mainstream browsers do them. This is not a problem in itself, however, I feel like these changes are made just for the sake of being different, without solving any actual problems.
The most recent example is the new tab behavior. From my point of view there is absolutely nothing wrong with how new tabs used to work, so this change was unnecessary at least. It could be argued that it is even harmful to the project, because there are still plenty of known issues that could be resolved instead. These issues might prevent users from switching fully to Zen or switching back to other browsers.
Also, the way this change was introduced was a bit unfortunate. My first impression was that it was a bug and judging from GitHub issues, I wasn't the only one. In the future it might be better to gently introduce users to these drastic changes (e.g. show a quick explanation/animation after updating).
That's it, I hope this is helpful.
