This PR is phase 2 of a multi-phase plan with the objectives of increasing our capabilities to carry out large simulation experiments, see milestone
The main goal of phase 2 is the parallelization across the simulation domain in nc-mode.
Phase 0 (PR #378) included the introduction of a simulation domain (a set of simulation units/runs) and the capability to produce output as netCDFs. It resulted in in the release of SOILWAT2 v8.0.0.
Phase 1 (PR #418) introduced the capability to acquire inputs from netCDFs, a representation of organic matter in soils and several bugfixes.
Later phases will update the representation of vegetation.
