Branching and Versioning within Identity Python

The idpy projects are maintained by a few core maintainers and a larger number of community volunteers. The core maintainers focus entirely on the master branch, developing and evolving the code there, while the community volunteers maintain releases that should be back-ported bug and security fixes.

For every major or minor release, the core maintainers will create a branch. All work on that branch, including back-ported bug and security fixes from both the volunteers and the core maintainers, will be coordinated and maintained by the community volunteers and should be released in the form of patch versions.
