Should amd_iommu be enabled to "yes" in usr/src/uts/i86pc/io/amd_iommu/amd_iommu.conf ?
Why has it been disabled in illumos@fa12630 ?
It is needed for pci passtrough on recent Zen CPU...

This is an upstream illumos issue, not a illumos-joyent specific issue. You should either engage the developer mailing list ( https://illumos.topicbox.com/groups/developer ) or file a bug at https://illumos.org/issues makin sure you file against "illumos-gate".

You should be specific about the problem(s) you are seeing as well in these communications:

• Which recent Zen CPU(s) is/are failing to perform PCI passthrough?

• What makes you sure this needs to be enabled? Have you tried it yet?

I know you were attempting to build SmartOS build to see how having this turned on would help or not. Did you succeed ( TritonDataCenter/illumos-extra#151 sugests you didn't)? I can probably spin a PI with this file flipped, but I cannot guarantee any successs.

Has this changed recently? I was under the impression no AMD CPU currently offers PPT for Bhyve?

Oh shoot, I think that's right. Nonetheless, this is an upstream illumos issue primarily.

GCC error has gone when I increased zone ram to 16Gb
But for now there is another error with node build:
TritonDataCenter/illumos-extra#150

Read the smartos-live README, it's right there, you need to build SmartOS on 21.4.1 zones until we update it.

Ok, I've built it with amd_iommu and intel_iommu, and it does nothing.. seems it's for old version iommu hardware only, my AMD IOMMU PCI device have no binded driver at all.
Could someone tell whether GPU passthrough realy works in bhyve? Mine VM tells that device is busy and not use ppt, but pptadm shows it.
